Living with joy first is a process of identifying happiness in the most meaningful terms and learning to increase and sustain it a little each day and to keep doing it,. It includes identifying the happiness myths we have been taught in our society.- beliefs about what increases and sustains happiness that significant research in Positive Psychology has found just don’t work or don’t enable us to experience the sustainable happiness that we have been taught to believe that they would. They also include beliefs about our potential to significantly increase and sustain what I call meaningful and sustainable happiness throughout our lives. Our society is full of them.
We all have probably identified some of these happiness myths but some that research in positive psychology has found we can believe and that significantly influence our lives will really surprise you.
Because we can buy into these myths we actually will experience much less “meaningful and sustainable happiness” or real joy in life than we could by far.
Once we identify these happiness myths we then need to identify the beliefs, attitudes and actions that significant research has found actually do enable us to significantly increase and sustain happiness and well being in every area of our lives- in our personal lives, relationships, school and work and work on applying and reinforcing these things a little each day.
Among other things, living with joy means identifying and changing self-limiting beliefs that you have about yourself and your potential, about others and about "how the world works" that are keeping you from experiencing the "meaningful and authentic happiness", motivation and empowerment that you could.
